VELS Group of Institutions was established by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, M.Com., B.L., Ph. D., in 1992 in memory of his father Shri. Isari Velan.
VELS Group, with the noble aim of imparting quality education, has started several colleges of higher learning over the years. They include colleges of Basic Sciences, Dental Science, Paramedical Sciences, Nautical Science, Catering & Hotel Management, Engineering & Technology, Teacher Training and Education. They offer practical and job oriented courses to the students hailing from different economical and social background. These institutions attract students not only from Tamil Nadu but from other states and overseas as well.
Besides its involvement in higher education, VELS Group has established Vels Vidyashram, a CBSE School in 1998. In 2002, Vels Higher Secondary School came into being and these two schools have been producing excellent results in the Board examinations.
No wonder Vaels International School has earned a good reputation in so short a span of time as it is a part of the best group of educational institutions that educates students from pre-school to Doctorate level.
In recognition of the services of VELS Group for the cause of higher education, the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, has granted University status under section 3 of the UGC Act of 1956.
