On 18th and 19th July 2025, Vaels International School, Injambakkam, had the proud honour of hosting a two-day Book Fair in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, New Delhi. This literary event was not just a showcase of books—it was a vibrant celebration of imagination, learning, and the joy of reading. With an aim to spark curiosity and build strong reading habits among students, the Book Fair transformed our campus into a haven for book lovers of all ages, further establishing our position among the best schools in ECR.
The event featured a wide collection of books spanning across genres and age groups—from picture books and early readers for our youngest learners to novels, biographies, encyclopedias, and academic resources for older students. The carefully curated selection ensured that every student could find something that resonated with their interests, whether fiction, science, history, culture, or art. The atmosphere was lively, with colourful displays, themed stalls, and an infectious buzz of excitement as students browsed through the shelves, showcasing the vibrant learning culture that makes us one of the top IGCSE schools in Palavakkam.
What made the Book Fair truly special was its inclusivity. Students from all grades actively participated, exploring titles, flipping through pages, and engaging in meaningful discussions with peers and teachers about their chosen books. For many, it was their first time buying a book independently, making the experience both personal and empowering. Teachers and librarians guided students in picking age-appropriate and interest-driven reads, helping them make informed choices that nurture a love for lifelong learning, a quality that distinguishes leading schools in Injambakkam like ours.
To make the event even more impactful, Vaels International School extended invitations to neighbouring schools, turning the fair into a community-wide celebration of literature. Students and educators from other institutions joined us in exploring the book exhibits, fostering a sense of collaboration and shared purpose in promoting reading culture. The interaction among students from different schools brought new perspectives, friendships, and a healthy exchange of literary interests.
At Vaels, we strongly believe that reading is the foundation of creativity, critical thinking, and communication. Events like these are essential to developing these 21st-century skills. The Book Fair helped students develop curiosity and independent thinking, improve vocabulary and comprehension, gain exposure to global cultures and ideas, and build empathy through stories and characters. As one of the best CISCE and IGCSE schools in Chennai, we consistently strive to enrich student learning through both curricular and co-curricular activities.
The smiles on students’ faces as they walked away clutching their chosen books said it all. Many were seen discussing their new reads during break times and eagerly sharing reviews with classmates the next day. For parents, too, it was a proud moment to see their children take interest in reading and literature. The Book Fair has undoubtedly left a lasting impression and served as a strong step in creating a reading-first culture at Vaels. At Vaels International School, we don’t just teach—we inspire. And this Book Fair was a beautiful reminder that when students read, they grow.
