Vaels International School, one of the best international schools in Neelankarai, recently brought a splash of color, culture, and creativity to its campus with a vibrant event themed “Carnival Celebrations.” Held on September 28th, this exciting event was hosted by the Nursery and Primary departments, turning the school into a lively hub of global traditions and festivities.
Each classroom was transformed into a colorful representation of festivals from around the world, offering students, parents, and visitors a chance to explore diverse cultures through hands-on experiences. The campus was alive with joyful music, creative displays, and the enthusiastic participation of the entire school community.
One of the highlights of the event was the representation of Japan’s Hina Matsuri. The school's staircase was beautifully decorated with traditional puppets of the emperor and empress, giving guests a glimpse into this elegant and centuries-old Japanese celebration. Another eye-catching experience was the Chinese New Year setup, complete with miniature red dragons, festive decorations, and thrilling boat race displays that captured the festival’s vibrant spirit.
The carnival offered more than just cultural displays. From mehandi and temporary tattoos to exciting 3D shows and a 360-degree dome experience, the activities were thoughtfully planned to engage children of all age groups.
Children enthusiastically took part in fun activities like horse rides, boat rides, balloon blasts, ring toss, and various game booths. There were also stalls with delicious food, crafts, and interactive games that encouraged creativity and joy.
The event also celebrated Indian festivals such as Independence Day, Pongal, Haldi, Mehndi, and Ramadan, along with Christmas and traditional wedding rituals. These efforts not only showcased the rich heritage of India but also reinforced the global outlook that defines education at ICGSE schools in ECR.
The school was honored by the presence of Mr. Ishari K. Ganesh, Chairman of the Vels Group, and Mrs. Arthi Ganesh, Pro-Chancellor of VISTAS and Managing Trustee of the Vels Group of Schools. They applauded the creativity and commitment of the students, teachers, and staff in making the event an unforgettable celebration of unity in diversity.
Parents were filled with pride and joy as they witnessed their children confidently present a variety of cultural traditions. Their appreciation was echoed in smiles, applause, and heartfelt feedback — making it a truly memorable day for everyone involved.
