Learning about street food through a hands-on life skills activity!

Exploring Street Food through a Hands-On Life Skills Activity at VAELS International School, Injambakkam

At VAELS International School in Injambakkam, we believe in the power of experiential learning—where students don't just learn through textbooks, but engage with real-world experiences that broaden their horizons. One such exciting and delicious activity was our recent hands-on life skills session centered around street food.

Street food is more than just a quick snack; it's a reflection of a region's culture, traditions, and flavors. Through this activity, students had the opportunity to dive into the vibrant world of street food, gaining practical skills that go beyond cooking. From learning how to prepare iconic dishes like dosa, chaat, or vada, to understanding the art of balancing spices and ingredients, students were immersed in a sensory experience of taste, smell, and sight.

Incorporating street food into the curriculum allowed students to appreciate the cultural significance of food while developing life skills they can use for years to come. Whether they were making sandwiches or garnishing their own chaats, the hands-on approach made learning both fun and meaningful, demonstrating that the classroom extends far beyond its walls.

At Vaels International School, we’re always excited to offer students opportunities to learn through action, creativity, and, of course, great food!
